"Knife [Girl Talk Remix]," Grizzly Bear
some may say it ruined the song. i, on the other hand, just think it adds an interesting perspective. as does the born ruffians' cover. i'd say check all three out.
here's the video for this version (thanks i guess i'm floating and youtube):

"Walking on a Dream," Empire of the Sun
excellent, catchy, electronic number with high vocals... kinda like passion pit or the sound of arrows, then, in a sense. its free on itunes right now.

"Celebration Guns," Stars
this is a band that really fascinates me--i like essentially every single one of their songs that i hear for one reason or another.

"The Reeling," Passion Pit ('pretty much amazing' mp3)
from the lovely band that brought you the now very popular 'sleepyhead,' another song off their new album, Manners, to be released May 19 by frenchkiss records.
here's a link for the video too (it's really quite amazing):

"Forever Young," Youth Group
Forever Young - Youth Group (imeem stream--hey, that rhymes!)
yes. the first time i ever heard this wonderfully catchy australian track was on 'the oc.' you can laugh, it's okay, i know it's kind of lame. but i did really love that show. aaaand, it made me realize my extreme appreciation for and love of indie music. so the crappy teen drama that went with it wasn't entirely useless, was it?

"I Was A Teenage Hand Model," Sky Larkin
(RCRD LBL stream)
i saw these guys open for los campesinos! at slim's last night in sf. they were so adorable and really quite excellent. i.e. i really enjoyed the opening band, which i feel is a very, very rare occurrence, especially at small shows like that one.

"So Post All 'Em," YACHT
this is a very fun song. if you like the song 'mirando' by ratatat you'll probably like this too because one of the background sounds is almost exactly the same in both.
here's a link for download from spinner.com: So Post All 'Em from Spinner.com
ps sorry i really hate to be doing this, but i have a small request. if you look at this blog and like it, could you pretty please become a follower [or comment or something]? that way i'll know if people are actually reading and whether it's worth posting often or not...
thank youuuuuuu : )

"Young Adult Friction," The Pains of Being Pure At Heart
i've loved this band for awhile now, but just had this song recommended to me by a friend. yeah, it's wonderful. the title really captures the feeling of the song. link for download from spinner.com: Young Adult Friction from Spinner.com
aaaaaand, today gets two songs cause i also wanted this one to be the song of the day:
"The Execution of All Things," Rilo Kiley
this song always seems to come up when i play my last.fm library and each time i am equally blown away by it. the opening is particularly great. kind of unexpected too, but in a very good way.

"Verbena de los Delfines," Coconot
Pablo Díaz-Reixa (El Guincho)'s project with a few other musicians. Very similar to his work as El Guincho. Here's the link to the Spin article about the band where you can download the mp3: Spin Coconot Article

"You Are A Runner And I Am My Father's Son," Wolf Parade
wow. i've been gone for awhile. plays and college trips and such. but i'm back now! i'm a little to lazy right now to put a lot of thought into the song of the day though, so i'm just going with the great opening track of 'apologies to the queen mary.'
