"Slowly," M83
(tracasseur mp3)

Haunting.

Really the only term I can find to describe the magic of Anthony Gonzales and friends.

"Th Pains of Being Pure at Heart," The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

i saw them on friday at the great american music hall in san francisco. so excellent. i've been posting this quote by kip berman, lead singer/guitarist in POBPAH, everywhere. i just think it's so great. and it really describes the feel of their music (the most wonderful example of what indie shoegaze fuzz-pop is supposed to be) so well:

"our music is filled with feeling, both positive and dark. massive love, nuclear heartbreak, feeling so alone in nowhere towns, romantic friendship, wasted summers, rebellion, nothing to do, doing it all the time. i guess we're perpetual teenagers." -kip berman, the pains of being pure at heart

brilliant.

"The Undeserv'd," Will Sturgeon

i recently came across mr. sturgeon's pay-what-you-want EP, geo geo. the whole EP is quite wonderful and definitely worth checking out. what to expect? a lovely array of folky singer-songwriter goodness mixed with random electronic-reminiscent influences, particularly in this song, which happens to be my favorite at the moment.

"40 Day Dream," Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros

so i had heard this song before and liked it, but didn't really get into it until listening with a friend recently. now i can't get enough of it, let alone this marvelous little psychedelic indie pop/rock band. i get the best feeling when listening...i can't even explain the feeling. it just is what it is. just see if it happens to you too. it probably will. and it's wonderful.

ps. you can download it here, from planetapop:
